Spring Hair Trend- Braids!

- by Pixie

You've seen all the girly celebs out there sporting the cutesy braids lately. I love how the throw-back style is making a comeback in a new fresh way. Try this new trend to get out of your typical ponytail rut.

Tips: Add a texturizing creme to dry hair to get it ready. Keep the braids soft, loose and messy to keep it updated looking. Keep the part clean and try some wisps around the face like Nicole Richie. Try an already-braided headband that matches your hair color for a quick fix!

There's a few types of braids you can rock right now...put in a few mini braids around the sides or front of the hair in a messy chignon style, put a chunky messy braid creating a side pony, add a few thin ones in a wavy beachy chic style, french braid the front of the hair to keep growing-out bangs at bay. The possibilities are unlimited!!!

Braid on!

MAC Dazzleglass Lipgloss

-by Pixie

I couldn't help but stop at the MAC counter yesterday & was hypnotized by their new lipgloss Dazzleglass. I am a huge fan of super sparkly lipgloss and MAC's Dazzleglass doesn't disappoint. Big pearls of sparkle reflect the light so everyone in the room notices your sexy lips. I am so in love with my new tube. Yeah yeah!!!

Ingredients: Finely ground coffee beas, brown sugar, sesame oil, one orange, honey, lotion

Prep: Combine equal parts of ground coffee and sugar, add sesame oil until the consistency is as thick as paste. This is the time to light the candles, turn off the phone, grab a glass of wine.

Exfoliate: Firmly massage scrub in a circular motion from feet up to shoulders & rinse with warm water.

Massage: Use a slice of the orange to rub across entire body (use up to eight slices). Oranges' scent brighten the mood, and have vitamin C which helps slough off dry skin and bioflavanoids to improve circulation and texture.

The most YUMMY Spring Shoes!

While I may not be a huge fan of her music, I have been a fan of Jessica Simpson's shoes since they launched. They are always girly, glamorous & fabulous.

This pair is on the top of my MUST-HAVE list for Spring. I'm drooling just looking at these. They fit my girly-rocker style perfectly. I'll pair them with a short flirty dress first, for drinks on the patio of a hip downtown bar. Then I'll pair the with my black skinny jeans for prowling the mall with my gfs.

Ahhh! Can these get any yummier???

How to Care for Your Designer Jeans

by Pixie

A few tried-and-true tips to keep your designer jeans in tip-top shape!

1) Wear your jeans for as long as possible between washes. This will help them form to your exact shape, giving you an amazing fit.

2) Wash stretch jeans more often. If they have 2-4% stretch, they will loosen up after a few hours of wearing so buy them a size smaller.

3) Wash them inside out & in cold water to protect the color. Wash with your other jeans to prevent color bleeding.

4) Don't dry your jeans! For stretch jeans, tumble dry for only about a half hour. Drying breaks down the elasticity in the fabric, so do it as little as possible. Tip: air dry them most of the way and then toss them in for about 10-15 minutes to snug them up.

5) Hang your jeans. This helps them keep their shape in between wearings.

How to Deal with Bi-Polar Weather

- by Pixie

Over here in the midwest, the weather seems to be bipolar- one minute is teases us with a glimpse of warm breezy days then pulls back and launches a snow attack on us. What's a stylish girl to do? The minute I packed my winter hats away in the closet, I find myself scrambling for my chunky knit cap to protect my new hair do from the rain.

One bonus, it does allow me to show off my cute polka dot umbrella one more time. Leave it to me to find the positive here, kids!

So this leaves me with this predicament...how can I still look cute with this mood-swinging weather???

I don't know about the other ladies out there, but I'm a big fan of keeping a small stash of clothes in my car, just in case of fashion emergencies. Ya know, it gets cold and I happen to have a spare denim jacket to add to my dress or a must-have pair of ballet flats to swap after a long day of platform heels.

It may seem silly or overdoing it, but trust me here, girls- so many times I've thanked buddha that I had that in the back of my trunk. Or at the very least my blistered feet thanked him.

Emergency Fashion Kit Ingredients (feel free to mix it up and add your own spice):
- Flats or flipflops: I never leave home without my pair in the trunk.
- Casual Hoody
- Pair of flashy earrings: These can make even a jeans & tee combo swank!
- Headband and hair tie: Saved me from many a goofy-hair day.
- Lip balm: This also doubles as a buffer if you get nasty blisters from your hot heels.
- Fitted jacket/blazer: this is with the flashy earrings. I keep a little fitted velvet blazer in the car and I can go from school (with jeans & tee) to happy hour and look like a trendy vixen!!!
- Oil blotting sheets: shiney face= ick, need I say more?
- Knit hat & gloves: only for you chicks in the cold weather, but I learned to leave some in my car after my fingers started cracking from forgetting a pair when I left home.
- Leggings: Seriously, leggings are better than sliced bread! I'm a big fan of naked legs but sometimes that sounds like a great idea in the morning when I leave but then a miserable one when it decides to snow out of nowhere. I bought an extra pair to leave in the car, just in case.
- Umbrella: Uh, another lesson learned the hard way.

Now toss all your stock into a Rubbermade tote or laundry basket. You will be soooo glad you did!

Here's to hoping Spring hurries up and gets here!!!!
